Although it isn’t unexpected, the big news from Google at the end of last year is that they are splitting their search index – prioritising mobile indexing over desktop websites to better provide information to the end user.
This is big news as the decision made by Google will affect all of us. If your website does not conform to the mobile standards set by Google, you may find that your website gets left behind.

Google’s recent study reveals that roughly 40% of people search only on a smartphone. Which is part of the reason Google have made the switch to prioritise mobile over desktop.
If your website is not mobile responsive, you will be kept in the outdated index, Google have said themselves that the mobile index will stay more up to date and take priority over the desktop index.
Go responsive. The best solution to this is to have a mobile responsive website, Google will see that your website works nicely with a mobile device and eventually begin to rank your website higher than those that are not responsive. Make sure that all of your relevant content is visible on the mobile device too.
As per usual, Google are cautious about release dates, however they have said that they are heavily testing in areas before they release it to a specific region. In their May hangout they have stated that there is no exact date, but due to the high number of mobile users it will definitely be coming in one form or another.

As real-time data insight, automation and scalability are now necessities and not luxuries, your ERP upgrade decision is more important than ever.
