In a 10-week period, we will be releasing a 10 blog special about e-commerce. Previously, we talked about Digital Support and how it’s important to have multiple channels of communication and content for your users to access. If you missed it, Click Here to read it.
You just produced a professional website, it’s visually attractive and the content is of a high standard, but is the navigation on point? Is the ‘Buy Now’ Button visible when looking at a product? These are all good questions that you need to think about. If a consumer visits your website and they can’t navigate properly, or they don’t know how to purchase a product then this will lead to them abandoning the site and you will miss an opportunity of making a sale.
I’ve mentioned navigation in previous blogs, but it is really important! Users are more likely to abandon your site if they get lost or can’t find what they want in a short amount of time. Without navigation, your website can appear unstructured and unorganised, so if you have good navigation then it will be easier to manage it. A well thought through website navigation works well with SEO, in that it enables the Search Engine Spiders to properly crawl sites and index them. It will also improve website usability; meaning that if your website is not accessible by a link, it will not be found by search engines.
You need to ensure that your website is easy to navigate on all platforms ranging from PC’s to Mobile Devices and then ensure the purchase options are clearly shown.
Making it easy for people to know how to purchase on your site can be considered as a marketing technique. So, if you had a product that is Low in Stock and customers know how easily purchase, then this will encourage an immediate sale as they will be wanting to get this before it’s sold out.
In next week’s blog, we will explore the different payment methods you could use for your site and discuss transaction fees.
