NAV 2009 R2

Dynamics NAV 2009 R2

The release of Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009 R2 contains some useful improvements to the software while retaining the features that makes Dynamics NAV so popular with its 1 million worldwide users.

Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009 R2 retains all the key functionality - supporting financial management, service management, manufacturing operations, supply chain management, sales and marketing campaigns, human resource management, project management and customer relations management.

It remains simple to use and customise and users can produce detailed Business Intelligence (BI) reports quickly easily. The software also retains a visual and functional similarity with Microsoft Office products, as well as tighter Microsoft Office integration.

What are the main improvements?

One major improvement is the choice of the classic or new ‘role tailored’ client (RTC). Role tailored functionality ensures users see only the options and information they need to see on their screen, hiding the 90% they don’t need to use or see. Users can implement one of the 20+ ‘out-of-the-box’ roles or create their own.

Another improvement is the ability to integrate data and business logic from NAV with a range of other applications, using .NET Web Services functionality.

The third main improvement is in the database layer - NAV 2009 R2 makes better use of the features in Microsoft SQL Server, well known for its reliability and flexibility. NAV 2009 R2 allows users to analyse data and create insightful reports more easily and, through the role tailored client, can harness the power of reporting services.
