Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence – is your business ready?

In recent years, we have seen an explosion of artificial intelligence (AI) in our personal lives with AIs such as Google, Ciri, Cortana and Alexa providing self-drive cars, face recognition, speech recognition, handwriting recognition etc. Some of these technologies are now on par, or exceed, that of human abilities to perform the same task.

The Microsoft AI engine is not as widely recognised in the consumer market as the Google, Amazon and Apple counterparts, however in the business world, they seem to have a significant lead over the competition. That said, most business owners are not aware of the tools at their fingertips.

AI Features in Business Central

Microsoft have for a few years now shipped their Microsoft Dynamics® NAV and Dynamics 365 Business Central solutions with some basic artificial intelligence features such as Sales and Inventory Forecasting, Cashflow Forecast and late payment recognition. The product even uses Image Analysis for both Item Attribute detection and face recognition on contact cards.  However, this is just the tip of the iceberg.  These features are just examples of the use of the technologies that Microsoft have in their armory with the Azure AI components, Azure Machine Learning Services and Azure Cognitive Services.

With these Azure components, you can add Artificial Intelligence to your business processes, such as the interpretation of handwritten forms and incoming emails, resulting in actionable events within Business Central, or the recognition of poor-quality product for quality control purposes.

Microsoft’s march to the cloud is helping to bring these services to life, giving the Azure Cognitive services the access to the data required to create and train these AI models. Microsoft also understands that most businesses are not made up of data scientists, which means that they are providing practical implementations of AI for business.
